Well. Here I am.

With no idea what I'm doing here.

I can't really get my mind around posting on Livejournal. I'm not particularly the blogging type---at least, not so far---and I feel like posting about anything going on in my life would be tantamount to the most epic whining/bragging ever seen by man. I mean, even if I set an entry to Private, it's going to be saved to a finitely secure server and transfered electronically, which leaves it open to all sorts of snooping and potentially viewable by the entire planet. Nothing really important can go here, and I don't think I'm likely to be using it to hold conversations over the internet---that's what email is for.

Ah, well. Perhaps I'll get used to it. Treat it like one of the forums I skulk on, and see how far that takes me.

One possibility, at least: I may journal for a character here. Not sure that's a great idea, but we'll see. Or I may be using this to supplement my Larcenous Design webspace at www.pbphouse.com, since their blogging features are limited. If I go that route, this may actually see a lot of use. Time will tell.

Blessed be,
~Nathan

Hehe; yeah, I might tell some folk. However, that does get to one of those reasons I was hesitant to get on here. I have almost no friends, compared to a lot of people (small schools = small friend groups, just the way it goes), and a great way to drive that home is to go online, say "Hi, everyone!" and listen to the deafening silence.

So, ye hear that, anybody I know who reads this? Friend me and prove me wrong :-)

How to make friends on LJ: a Primer.

1. Join a few communities that look interesting.
2. Post interesting comments on community posts, or, hey, make interesting posts yourself. Get involved in conversations about the topic of the comm.
3. Check out the ljs of people who post things you tend to agree with/find insightful, amusing, or fun.
4. If you like their ljs, ask them if you can friend them. They'll probably say yes and friend you back.

I would suggest you start with comms dedicated to firefly, bsg, demon hunters, and the associated games.
